My initial curiosity about wine developed into the best-life adventure I’ve ever been involved in. The lifestyle surrounding wine and the culture around it has always fascinated me in one way or another.

Intrigued, I bought my first red, a pinotage cultivar which exposed my uninitiated palate and since then I’ve never looked back. The sophistication and class of the winelover's lifestyle seemed to blend with my personal style and with the style of my peers, I’m sure. I intend to pursue this quest of discovery in the wine world with you and trust you will enjoy the journey as you accompany me on my quest…

We aim to revolutionize the wine industry by introducing wines that taste great, to the emerging black market consumer. We’re constantly in pursuit of innovative and original ideas to make a mark in the age old wine industry which has  been dominated by a few. Our Brand "JQ" pays homage to this urge to penetrate the ever elusive mainstream market by exuding radiance and style in an honest and down to earth product.

You may wonder how I came to be in this position.....

After struggling to establish my wine marketing business in Gauteng in 2004 my quest began to take shape when I met Des Green at the Soweto Wine Festival in 2005. Getting to know him well took awhile but we became trusting friends. In 2006 Des and I teamed up and dreamt of having our own wine brand. I will never forget his suggestion as it formed in his mind, a true light bulb moment for me as he said , "Jacob, you are on a quest. What do you think of naming our brand...Jacob's Quest !" After the initial excitement faded and the reality and enomirty of the challenge presented itself, I was overwhelmed by simple yet excruciatingly painful facts. I had very little money, I did not own a winery or even a single vine, so how could we overcome all that to make this dream come true? I should have known that he already had a plan. Des introduced me to a number of his friends who were farming wine grapes near the little "dorp" of Porterville on the west coast near Cape Town. Today they are my partners in "JQ " .
