Jacob continues his quest....
Porterville. 15 March 2009
Jacob Peu, the energetic township entrepreneur from Katlehong continues his quest to bring the wine lifestyle through his brand “Jacob’s Quest” to the masses. Late in February his garagisté team harvested, pressed and vinified his maiden 2009 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon at the Houdconstand farm, located near Porterville in the heart of the Swartland wine region.
The casual observer might be mistaken for thinking they were witnessing the grape harvest at a medieval peasant village of long ago as every family member, child and dog were present and contributing to the festival atmosphere and the day’s proceedings. The rustic buildings and hand operated equipment provided a unique insight into how wine was made and bottled centuries ago.
“Jacob’s Quest is a brand that celebrates life, the uniqueness of what it truly means to be a child of the rainbow nation and the values that bring family and friends together. Unpretentious and uncomplicated in a way that demonstrates who you are by what you do”, Jacob emphasized.

Sibongile Mthembu, a well known “Jozi” personality and owner of “Beyond Your Vision Marketing” was invited to experience the ethos of what “JQ” is all about. After competing in the local volleyball competition as guest member of the “JQ” team, followed by two days of harvesting and wine making, she was captivated by the story of how Jacob came to be a partner in a wine business and the brand ambassador for “Jacob’s Quest”. In 2005 Jacob met Des Green at the Soweto Wine Festival. They connected and a business was born aimed at introducing wine to novice female wine enthusiasts in the mainstream black market.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is Jacob’s second serious wine, following his maiden 2008 Chenin Blanc. If you can still get hold of a bottle, we suggest you treasure this soon to become collector’s item.
